Single-Flute Drill
The Single-Flute Drill boasts an innovative design that allows the surgeon to cut bone uni-directionally. The Single-Flute Drill has been designed so that the non-cutting surface is used to manipulate the facial plate while the cutting surface removes palatal or lingual bone. Thus, the result is similar to the Tatum technique for D-implant placement; however, this instrument eliminates the need for a mallet.
The Single-Flute Drill can be used in many ways to assist the surgeon in placing implants. For example, it is excellent for a flapless procedure where the surgeon intends to maintain the periosteal contact while manipulating the patient’s bone. In addition, the Single-Flute Drill allows the surgeon to very effectively re-direct an osteotomy. Finally, the Single-Flute Drill collects bone in its flutes such that the surgeon can harvest the autogenous bone, which can be stored in sterile saline in the Calyx. Thereafter, the surgeon can use that same bone for autogenous grafting material, which directly forms bone from transplanted trabecular bone cells.
The Single-Flute Drill comes in three (3) different sizes: 2mm, 3mm, and 4mm.
